We will shoot the project on 4 perf 35mm motion film coupled with a 1000mm zoom lens attached to a servo motor, allowing ourselves a full range of motion from our close-up all the way to our wide frame.

The film will be scanned at a 4K resolution to allow for even further push-ins and re-framing in post production.

There is more about shooting on film in the “Medium” section of the treatment.

Our spotted light effect will be accomplished in one of two ways.

Option A: a 1600W Jokerbug HMI light attached to a leko lens adapter, giving us a hyper focused spot of light which which we can then soften and manipulate into our desired shape. This light would be mounted directly above our camera axis, dimmed manually, and powered by a small portable generator.

Option B: a drone mounted LED panel which would hover above our talent, out of frame. As our frame wides, the drone will move upwards, naturally dimming the light. Consultation with drone company RVRD has already taken place. They have signed off on their ability to operate in windy, mountain conditions and have achieved similar effects on previous commercials shoots.

We will plan ahead to try to shoot the project in the best pocket of weather we can. We will shoot the project over subsequent days, shooting both sunrise and sunset in order to get ourselves into the best pocket of visibility possible.
